Liberalism Binds
Watching the SOTU address, I am struck by how miserable it must be to be a liberal. Time after time the left side of Congress hears the President say something that they naturally want to applaud. You can see them start to clap, but then they catch themselves. They turn and look left and right. “Are my colleagues clapping? Is it okay? Am I allowed to clap for that? Is it politically correct? Could it offend anyone? Could it be construed as sexist? Are any of my donors against it?”
I am so thankful that I don’t have to go through a litany of litmus tests to know whether or not I like what I hear. It’s so liberating to know that I applaud what I like, boo what I despise, ignore what I dislike no matter who it bothers.
