Krugman Obfuscates
In today’s New York Crimes, Al Qaeda supporter, Paul Krugman, attempted, limp-writstedly, to defend his newspaper’s support of terrorism by attacking those of us who called the NYT to the carpet.
But an almost equally important aspect of the project has been the attempt to create a political environment in which nobody dares to criticize the administration or reveal inconvenient facts about its actions. And that attempt has relied, from the beginning, on ascribing treasonous motives to those who refuse to toe the line. As far back as 2002, Rush Limbaugh, in words very close to those used by The Wall Street Journal last week, accused Tom Daschle, then the Senate majority leader, of a partisan “attempt to sabotage the war on terrorism.”
Thus spake Krugman in “The Treason Card.”
What Krugman never denies, though, is his and his paper’s eagerness to see America lose the war on terrorism. Neither Krugman nor his sheik, Bill Keller, claimes the Bush administration’s use of financial data to track down terrorists to be illegal, unethical, or even unusual. They “exposed” the information, not for the benefit of an American public thirsting to know, but for the benefit of Osama bin Laden and his thirst for American blood. Neither Krugman nor Keller denies this.
Instead, they obfuscate. They call us “dangerous” and “un-American” for wishing that reporters would remember that our friends and family are dying in combat. They obfuscate with lied, like “the right to wiretap American citizens without court authorization” when Krugman knows that no such thing happened. They obfuscate by painting a false picture of America that we traditionally favor full disclosure over winning wars.
Krugman and Keller long for the days of Vietnam. They claim credit for North Vietnam’s overrunning of the democrat South. They worship Ho Chi Minh’s lies, recalling how Ho, like Clinton, lied our troops out of Vietnam with the help of the American press and KGB sponsored rallies in Washington. They revel in American defeat. They wallow in the slop of self-loathing. They hate this country far more than Osama bin Laden, and they have proven far more personally successful at bringing America down.
Personally, the gas chamber is not enough for Keller and Krugman. I think they need a visit to Club Gitmo for a permanent vacation.
