Now What? **Corrected**

Sober, I scratch out some ideas for recovery.

  1. The conservative movement must forget the Republican party.  If the GOP wants to come along with us, they’re welcome.  But we won’t listen to their nonsense about "big tents" and "get over Reagan."  The Republican party was an irresponsible steward of conservatism for the past 20 years.  Tonight it got its just desserts.  Too bad the rest of us have to endure re-education camps, economic depression, and malaise because of them.  We’ll run as Republicans, but the morons who orchestrated this abortion better not even think about telling us how to do it.
  2. The movement needs an intellectual nexus.  Buckley, Kirk, and Friedman are gone, and their replacements are pygmies.  Perhaps Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams can fill the role.  Perhaps the third is Rush Limbaugh.  (Don’t laugh–he’s forgotten more about political philosophy than the entire staff of National Review ever knew.)
  3. We need a new journal of opinion.  The Weekly Standard is Hollywood; National Review is overrun with wimps and cowards; the others lack seriousness. A new magazine, backed with billions, could inspire a new generation.
  4. We must target teachers’ unions and education. CORRECTION: [I copied portions of this from a draft I never posted, for good reason, and copied the wrong damn paragraph at that. ]  The NEA has a stated purpose of gaining complete control of US Federal legislation.  It has protected teachers who, without parental permission, require kindergartners to sign Gay Pledge cards; teachers who place communist "social justice" indoctrination above actual education; teachers who intentionally undermine the authority of parents.  Conservatism must view these people as bad teachers.  The way to remove them is to destroy the NEA’s financial ability to defend them.
  5. Stop spending.  Hoard your money like a miser.  We have no reason to support the American economy.
  6. Identify one fresh, conservative candidate for US House and Senate NOW and push them. (One candidate in each state, of course.  That’s 50 gains in the House and 10 gains in the Senate, considering the rotation.)
  7. Potential candidates need to put the movement before themselves.  No more fights to the death only to tear apart the certain winner.
  8. Be nice.  This will be very difficult for me, but I’ll try if you will.  More Reagan will help.
  9. Read "Democracy in America" and "The Conservative Manifesto."  One predicts what happened; the other prepares the recovery.
  10. Have a drink.  I have to run to the store for six pack.

Domnus vobiscum, and God bless America.

**Note on correction**  My wife, whom I love and admire beyond reason, performs small miracles (and some large) with students every day as a special education teacher.  I certainly did not mean to hurt or denigrate her or the many wonderful teachers like her.  I apologize for my copying error.  I chose not publish the original post precisely because it read "mean."  I was hasty and unobservant.  I beg your forgiveness.

We’re All Communists Now *************

Ignorance is no defense.

Americans, faced with the choice of Marxist-socialism or republican-capitalism, a plurality chose communism.

Their moral weakness, combined with viral corruption of character, has created a majority coalition of indecisive morons known as independents, children who want government to make their decisions and butter their bread, and neo-Marxists, like Obama.  We fought the Cold War for nothing.

Over the next two years, we will see the most complete change in a nation seen since the Bolshevik Revolution nearly 100 years ago in Russia:

  • Obama names Bill Ayers Secretary of Education
  • Carbon-taxes based on the pseudo-science of anthopogenic global warming will bankrupt the coal industry
  • Electricity rates will skyrocket, forcing the federal government to nationalize the electrical power generation and distribution industry
  • Obama’s minions in Congress will purge the Democrat party of moderates.  Charges of "corruption" will lead to abandonment by the White House and Democrat party leaders.  Joe Lieberman will high on this hit list
  • The government will take over the auto industry in the US in order to "save it."  Auto workers will be come government employees
  • Obama will announce that, due to continued economic and financial problems, the US government will permanently maintain ownership of banks
  • Electricity rates will be based on income and usage, allowing those above Obama’s arbitrary line of wealth to pay the electric bill those below the line
  • Iran and Iraq will fight a short, brutal war which Iran will win after the US withdraws in 6 months
  • In March 2009, the US Congress will pass a sweeping "reform" of the military, cutting military spending 25 percent, eliminating most new weapons systems in development, and forcing the retirement of most flag officers so Obama can appoint friendlier faces
  • Either by replacing retiring Justices or by expanding the Court to 15 Justices, Obama will turn the Supreme Court in his personal rubber stamp
  • The US will sign non-aggression pacts with Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran obligating the US to refrain from action against those countries
  • Unemployment will rise in fits and starts, eventually reaching 12 percent late in 2009
  • Congress will overhaul the unemployment system, granting permanent benefits
  • Congress will reinstate numerous entitle programs eliminated by the Contract with America and Bill Clinton
  • Late in 2009, Congress will create the National Civilian Security Force (NCSF), part of the Department of Homeland Security and authorized to investigate, arrest, and prosecute anyone suspected of crimes against the people
  • Congress will pass legislation requiring federal registration of all privately owned fire arms and authorizing the NCSF to perform unannounced inspections of the homes of fire arms owners and those suspected of owning unregistered weapons
  • Congress will re-enact the "Fairness" Doctrine, making it far more onerous than the last one; Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage will retire in the face of mounting legal bills and NCSF prosecutions
  • Iran will conquer Israel after a blitzkrieg of missile and heavy artillery. Israel’s cries for help will go unanswered as Obama cites the non-aggression pact signed with Iran
  • In 2010, the NCSF will arrest George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld, charging them with crimes against humanity.  A war crimes court will be established at the Hague.  In July 2010, Rumsfeld and Bush will be handed over to the court for incarceration.
  • The worsening economic depression will make internet access unaffordable for most people, driving the government to nationalize the internet, regulating content and bandwidth
  • The Supreme Court will refuse to hear an appeal from a ruling that declares the Catholic church in violation of sex discrimination laws.   The church will have 180 days to ordain and recognize a woman "priest."  After the church refused to comply, all church property was seized and priests ordered into service as chaplains for the NCSF.

Please print this.  If I’m right, even half-right, this site won’t be here when you come looking for it.

If McCain, by some miracle, wins, let this serve as a warning of would might have been and what might yet come.

By the, Obama’s communist code name is "Delgado."

UPDATE:  I accidentally posted this last night, so I’m moving it to the top.  Allahpundit concedes.

8:00 PM CST: Update: Brit Hume is drunk. Self-government remains on life-support

Fox New just called Ohio for Obama, meaning McCain is mathematically eliminated.

UPDATE:  Looks like Obama has won Florida.  Michigan and Minnesota have gone communist, joining Wisconsin.

UPDATE:  Why is Major Garrett interviewing Adolf Hitler?

UPDATE 8:05:  Senate Calls (that matter) John Barrasso (R) wins special election in Wyoming; Mike Enzi (R) wins re-election; Republican Pat Robert wins re-election in Kansas; Tim Johnson (D) wins re-election in SD; Dems pick up Pete Dominici’s Senate seat in New Mexico (Dems +4); Jeff Session retains his seat, as does Thad Cochran (both Republicans); the special election for Senate in Mississippi too close to call, but the Republican leads.

7:30 PM CST: Could be the last half-hour of self-government **Scroll for Updates** Exit polls over-sampled Obama voters by 10 percent in Virginia

The chair from which George Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention had, at the head of its back, a carved image of the sun.  When the Convention concluded with the Constitution, Madison wrote, Benjamin Franklin said, "I have often looked at that behind the president without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting. But now I… know that it is a rising…sun."

Tonight it is a setting sun.

Tonight the short history of the world’s best hope for democracy ended in a selfish fit of suicide.

UPDATE:  Megan Kelly just called the election for Obama, if I heard correctly.

UPDATE 7:38:  Fox calls Georgia for McCain, well within the hour Allahpundit identified as the "oh crap" line.  But CNN is about call to Florida for Obama.

UPDATE 7:42:  Saxby Chambliss retains his Senate according to Fox News.  Huge hold for the GOP.  Republicans need only one more win to block cloture.

NOTE:  I could call up the voters and ask them how they voted faster than Fox News’ election map loads.  Who tested that piece of crap?  Web designers–use Flash very carefully.  Interactive Flash-based applications usually suck for the user, but the demo beautifully.

UPDATE 7:52:  Fox says it can’t call many states that closed 7:00 EST because of a very large error ratio between exit polls and actual vote are very large.  In Virginia counties where Obama polled well, the WPE (Within Precinct Error) is 10.6%.  That’s a huge number.  In precincts where the WPE is high, responsible journalists wait until all votes are counted.

UPDATE 7:57:  With 43 percent of votes counted in Florida, Obama’s lead grows to 200,000.

Closing out this post.  See 8:00 post.
